Thea with the Grade 6 Students of the Parham Primary School
Ms. Caribbean Alliance Recognizes Students' Hard Work for Independence
Independence is here and many persons are celebrating this, the nation's 27th birthday. Ms. Caribbean Alliance 2008, Thea Joseph is no exception, although she has commemorated it in a slightly different manner.
On Tuesday October 28th, she visited the Parham Primary School to deliver an inspirational talk to the students who will be taking part in the school's pageant on Thursday, November 13th. These talks were in an intimate setting with the 12 contestants. Confidence, anxiety, nervousness, and fear were just a few of the items she addressed in their interaction.
The day was just starting for Thea, as she left Parham Primary and went straight out to present awards on behalf of her sponsor to outstanding students at Pares Secondary. In a ceremony held on the school compound, she presented the Caribbean Alliance Diamond Award to the Most Outstanding Students from forms 1 through 4. The Caribbean Alliance Exceptional Student Award, along with a digital camera, went to Hanassah Bright for being the lone student on the Principal's List. To qualify for the Principal's List, a student must be on the Honor Roll for three consecutive terms. To be on the Honor Roll, a pupil must pass all of their subjects with no more than two having a grade below 70%. These two subjects must not include Math or English Language.
"It felt great to reward the accomplishments of these dedicated students," said Thea. "Oh, and I was also impressed with Carl Henry's lyrical performance." Carl was a student who was part of an item presented by the school's Music Department as part of the prize-giving programme.
Most recently, Thea was on-air last night on VYBZ FM giving listeners a peek into the minds of tonight's queen contestants. "I just want to wish the girls luck, because I know that they must be nervous right now." exclaimed Thea in her usual bubbly manner. She also gave away six tickets to tonight's Home Coming Pageant finals. In closing she stated "I would like everyone to go out and support the girls tonight, and I hope that everyone has a happy and safe Independence."
